I went out and got myself a picture
Of the finest hair that I have ever seen
The picture smiled at me and gave a promise
That I would look just like that magazine
It’s haircut time, and that hair will be mine
Just like the picture.

I’ve had the same damn haircut since 1985
And I’ve had the same damn head
Since I’ve been alive.
But just once I’d like too look like the pictures that I see
Of a movie star or a model smiling back at me.
My hairdresser sighed, and said it’s gonna be hard
To make it look like the picture

She said your eyes are too close
And your lips too thin
Your mouth’s too big
And your teeth don’t fit
And your hairline’s high
And your neck’s too long
Your head’s too small
To hold it all
Hair too fine, too straight, too thick, too brown, but I will try to make it look
Just like the picture.

She said that she could do it, she’d done many times
It was the latest style, and I would look just like
The picture that was grinning at me now from ear to ear
The only place in town that did that style was right here
I lay my head in the dip in the sink and I said a prayer
That I’d look like the picture.

She said your eyes are too close
And your lips too thin

Your head’s too small
To hold it all
Hair too fine, too straight, too thick, too brown, but I will try to make it look
Just like the picture.

Head to the left head to the right
Hold the chin to chest real tight.
Comb it out and blow it dry
Spin me round and check me out.

It was the same damn haircut from 1985
Don’t know how it happens, but it happens every time
I held up my picture and I said “I don’t have her look.”
She said “Yes you do but it’s hard to tell from the
Angle it was took.”
Paid for the cut took off out the door
To a magazine rack for just one more
Picture
Just one more picture
Make it look like the picture.
