Kathy Briggs: Music

The Last Wave [lyrics]

(Kathy Briggs)

Last night I dreamed that we were sailing
On waters warm and blue and glass
The air was soft the water friendly
And we were safe at last

The sails were full, the wind was quiet
I wasn’t sure how we’d get by
But the ship was quickly sailing
Across the ocean wide.

(Chorus)
I can’t get out of the water
But I can’t get in.
I’m just waiting for the last
Wave to roll in.

(Bridge)
I can’t give in
And I can’t give out
Can’t start drinking
Or I will drown
It’s time for me to head
For higher ground.

And now an ocean is between us
The waters dark and cold and black
When I breathe the ocean air.
The memories take me back.

Last night I dreamed the sea was stormy
The water carried you away
And left me standing on a lonely shore.
Waiting for the next wave.
